Community first

We prioritise tenants who benefit the local economy and the Comrie community.

Flexible terms

Units vary in size and condition. What is possible depends on the unit and what you have in mind — we work it out together.

Income stays in Comrie

All rent income is reinvested into the camp and community projects.

Types of space

Workshop & Studio

Larger Nissen huts with high ceilings and concrete floors — suited to light manufacturing, craft production, vehicle storage, or studios needing open floor space.

Office & Professional

Smaller converted units with insulation, lighting, and heating. Suited to desk-based work, consulting, therapy, or creative studios needing a quieter environment.

Storage

Basic secure units for equipment, materials, or stock. Power available. Not suited to regular daily occupation but useful as affordable overflow or depot space.

How it started

In the years after the camp buyout, CDT began making empty huts available to local businesses and individuals under the original 'Free Huts' initiative — spaces taken on in exchange for restoration work and community benefit. The scheme was formalised as the Repair and Lease arrangement in 2017. Today it operates more openly: units vary in size and condition, and terms are agreed individually depending on the unit, the intended use, and what the prospective tenant can bring.
